Amy received Christ as her savior when she was a young child. She grew up in a Christian home and was involved in church from a young age. As soon as she could, she began volunteering in the church nursery and children’s church. Amy’s passion for Christ and ministering to His children grew as she dedicated her time and energy to His work throughout her high school years. In addition to working with children she also began learning to operate the audio equipment for various church groups and events.
After high school Amy began attending Brazosport College and working full time. She continued to work in the youth leadership team at her church and the audio video team. After a short time, she married Joshua Davenport and they had six kids. Wow six kids—that’s a lot of kids.
When Amy’s second child, Jocelyn, was in Kindergarten she began experiencing epileptic seizures. This led to many ambulance trips, emergency room visits, and several hospital stays. These experiences helped Amy and Josh to learn to trust God when life does not make sense and when there is nothing any person can do to fix a problem. After over a year the doctors were able to find medication that would control the seizures.
When Jocelyn turned eleven she was able to stop taking medication and remains seizure free. Through this experience Amy was able to trust God to heal as well as guide and direct her and Josh to make the best decisions for Jocelyn and their family.
While Jocelyn was dealing with these medical issues she needed to withdraw from the Christian school she was attending. Later when Amy and Josh moved back to Brazoria County they began homeschooling all their children.
Amy is thrilled to be involved in the nursery department of Life Church, and enjoys the opportunity to minister to both the children and their families.
Amy has served on the Life Foursquare Church staff as our Nursery Coordinator since July of 2015.
