Michael grew up as a pastor’s kid in a vibrant church in Conroe, Texas, known as The Ark Church! Saved at the early age of five years old, he attended most every service they had, all the way up to the time he left for Oral Roberts University in 2012. But it was a fateful day near the end of his freshman year in High School that changed his life… it was the time he was baptized in the Holy Spirit. It was then that he knew he couldn’t do life without doing ministry! Michael loved God, and he loved the local church!
Michael’s calling to ministry came hard and fast! At a Bible Conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the day after his 20th birthday, the speaker called everyone from 18-25 to come down to the front! Michael went with upraised hands and hot tears. He heard the Lord speak to him very clearly and powerfully within, “I am calling you to preach.” From that moment his business major was changed to Ministry and Leadership with a concentration to become a local church pastor!
That same year Michael joined MANTEAM, an all-male missions team that does some very rigorous work in Tanzania, a month at a time. It was the hardest thing he’d ever done but it opened his heart up to a prophetic word that he would support missions in his future ministry, and that he wasn’t called to full time missionary work! Michael has an abiding burden for the country of Tanzania and the importance of missions across the globe.
As Michael’s senior year came to an end so did the plan for a summer mission trip. God was speaking again; it just wasn’t the right choice for the moment. A man named Eric Peterson confirmed it with a word from God a day later. “God’s plan is just around the corner!” Michael made his declaration, “I am here, send me… anywhere!” Two weeks went by… It was a Monday of frustration not knowing where he was going. Tuesday his mentor told him to prepare a resume. Wednesday—it’s career day on campus but nothing seemed interesting. It’s mid-morning and Michael says, “The word of the Lord came to me very peacefully in worship during chapel saying that I was going to get my job that day.” He had one printed resume. First booth, no fit… then another, and there it was—a job offering for a Young Adults Pastor.
“It was better than I was dreaming! I love it here at Life Church and most of all love what the Lord is doing in the hearts of the people. I’m blessed and honored to be part of the leadership team in this congregation, and to be part of God’s wonderful plan for this community. My vision is quite simple: “Love God and Love People.”
Michael is single, likes to work out, and is a connoisseur of good food though he does enjoy a good cronut now and then! He has served as the Young Adults Pastor at Life Foursquare Church since the summer of 2015.
