Joshua Davenport

Kid’s Music Minister

Joshua Davenport was born and raised in Brazoria County. He grew up in a loving, Christian family with parents who valued serving God and sharing his love with others. He began serving in children’s ministry, missions, and discipleship groups while in high school. Joshua started learning to play the piano as a teenager and soon began playing in a variety of worship settings. As his love of music and worshiping God grew he decided to continue his education by studying music. Joshua began his post high school study of music at Brazosport College and later continued at Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

While studying music in college Joshua worked for the school as a sound technician and became involved in a local church’s music ministry. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Church Ministries, specializing in music, Joshua began working as a music and computer teacher in a Christian school. While working as a teacher and Christian School Administrator Joshua continued his formal education and earned a Master of Education, and Educational Technology Specialist graduate degrees.

Joshua has a heart for teaching children to worship God with their whole lives. In John 4:24 we read that, “…God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” Through training and worship practice times Joshua seeks to impart skills for children to embody this model of worship as they live their lives worshiping God in “Spirit and Truth.”
When not at church or school, Joshua loves anything to do with Star Wars, science fiction, technology, and of course spending time with his family. Joshua has been married to Amy Davenport since 2002 and together they have six kids: Colin is the oldest followed by Jocelyn, Patience, Tambre, Jeremiah, and Owen.
